Even while the ground continues to shake, reactors are melting down and rescuers count the dead, men in suits seek to make political capital. Kyodo reports:

LDP urges Kan to do more in rescue operations

Kan has already dispatched 100,000 rescuers and the whole country with international assistance is on top of this, so what do they mean ‘do more’? They are making puffing noises, jostling for political position. Why don’t they grab a shovel, get off their well-padded arses and go do something real?

Also: surreal report on BBC live that the earthquake could be good for the Japanese economy. Some accountant sat down and figured out the numbers even while the tragedy is ongoing. Do I need to add the words ‘revolting slimebags’?
